The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced that the team has released National receiver\u00a0Ajou\u00a0Ajou\u00a0following\u00a0a CFL investigation which\u00a0concluded\u00a0Ajou\u00a0violated the\u00a0Gender-Based Violence and Harassment Policy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The league announced earlier on Thursday that\u00a0Ajou\u00a0has been suspended for at least six regular season games along with the preseason.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued by the CFL, they were alerted by allegations in late January and\u00a0immediately\u00a0launched an investigation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Through their investigation, on November 18, 2025 (two days after the Roughriders won the Grey Cup in Winnipeg),\u00a0Ajou\u00a0engaged in\u00a0aggressive\u00a0and unwelcome physical contact with multiple women at a\u00a0restaurant\u00a0in Regina.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Shortly after the league announced the suspension, the Roughriders announced that\u00a0Ajou\u00a0was no longer a member of the team.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Saskatchewan Roughriders do not tolerate gender-based violence or harassment and\u00a0Ajou\u00a0Ajou\u2019s\u00a0actions go directly against the values we hold as an organization,\u201d said Roughriders Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Jeremy O\u2019Day said in a team statement. \u201cWe hold our players to a high standard, one that focuses on integrity and treating people with respect. He\u00a0failed to\u00a0meet that standard and is no longer a Roughrider.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cProtecting the safety and well\u2011being of our communities is non\u2011negotiable,\u201d CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston said in a statement. \u201cOur players are expected to lead with integrity and serve as role models.\u00a0When improper conduct occurs, our policy is clear, and we will enforce it without exception.\u00a0It is my hope that Mr.\u00a0Ajou\u00a0learns from this experience, and that other players take this unfortunate situation as a reminder of the standards we uphold.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Last year, the wide receiver re-joined Saskatchewan after a tryout with the NFL\u2019s Indianapolis Colts.
