Surrey traffic stop nets 3.5 kg of illicit drugs<\/p>\n

A traffic stop in Surrey last month that resulted in a sizable seizure of illicit drugs dealt \u201ca significant financial blow to organized crime,\u201d officials say.<\/p>\n
According to officials with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C.\u2019s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET), officers discovered 3.5 kilograms of drugs \u2013 1.293 kg of fentanyl, 1.064 kg of cocaine and 1.149 kg of methamphetamine \u2013 packaged in bulk and vacuum-sealed bags during a \u201cproactive\u201d stop near 148 Street and 88 Avenue on March 24.<\/p>\n
Two individuals were arrested at the scene, with one found to be in violation of his study permit conditions. Transported to a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) immigration holding centre, he remains in custody, a news release states.<\/p>\n
A second individual was issued violation tickets for speeding and received a seven-month driving prohibition.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy intercepting bulk quantities of drugs at the distribution level, UGET officers are directly disrupting supply chains and cutting into the profits that fuel gang activity in our communities,\u201d CFSEU-BC Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha said in the release.<\/p>\n
