Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> starter Jose Berrios<\/a> allowed five runs on five hits over 2.2 innings, with three strikeouts and a walk in his rehab start in Dunedin on Thursday as he works his way back to the major league roster.<\/p>\n

Berrios got the start for the Single-A Blue Jays against the Clearwater Threshers, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a>, and threw 47 pitches, 39 for strikes.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old began the 2026 season on the injured list after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right elbow.<\/p>\n

The injury was discovered after Berrios underwent an MRI as he was trying to play for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.<\/p>\n

Berrios made three appearances in Spring Training and posted a 1-0 record with a 3.38 ERA in 10.2 innings before he was shut down with the injury.<\/p>\n

He finished last year on the injured list with right elbow inflammation after posting a 9-5 mark with a 4.17 ERA in 31 appearances for the Blue Jays and did not make an appearance during their post-season run to the World Series.<\/p>\n
