Sandra Bullock \u201cspent a lot of time healing\u201d with her kids after her longtime partner Bryan Randall\u2019s tragic death<\/a> three years ago. <\/p>\n

\u201cAfter everything she went through with Bryan, she needed time to care for herself,\u201d a source close to the actress told People<\/a> on Thursday, referring to Randall\u2019s secret three-year battle with\u00a0ALS<\/a>, which he ultimately lost in August 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe spent a lot of time healing, being with her kids and being at home,\u201d the insider added. \u201cShe needed to ensure that she and her\u00a0kids\u00a0were in the best possible place for her to go back to work.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the Oscar winner and Randall did not share any kids together, they blended their families<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bullock, 61, adopted her son, Louis, now 16, in 2010. Five years later, she adopted a 3-year-old girl, Laila, now 14, from a foster home in Louisiana.<\/p>\n

As for Randall, he already had an adult daughter named Skylar from a previous relationship. <\/p>\n

The photographer died on August 5, 2023. At the time, his family confirmed the tragic news in a statement shared with Page Six.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS,\u201d his family shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cBryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.\u201d<\/p>\n

Randall \u2014 who was 57 at the time of his death \u2014 first met the \u201cBlind Side\u201d actress at Louis\u2018 birthday in January 2015.\u00a0The pair immediately hit it off and started dating soon after.<\/p>\n

They made their red carpet debut <\/a>at the premiere of Bullock\u2019s\u00a0film\u00a0\u201cOur Brand Is Crisis\u201d\u00a0in October of that year.<\/p>\n

Although the couple mostly kept their relationship out of the spotlight, the Oscar winner gushed over Randall and their family<\/a> while he was already privately struggling with ALS. <\/p>\n

\u201cI found the love of my life,\u201d she said in a \u201cRed Table Talk\u201d interview\u00a0from December 2021. \u201cWe share\u00a0two beautiful children\u00a0\u2014 three children, his older daughter. It\u2019s the best thing ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the interview, she also shared how Randall was a \u201csaint\u201d when she told him her intention to adopt a second child even though they \u201chadn\u2019t been together that long.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also explained that she had no plans on marrying Randall despite their deep love for one another because she wanted to put their children first.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t need a paper to be a devoted partner, devoted mother,\u201d she explained. \u201cI don\u2019t need to be told to be ever-present in the hardest of times. I don\u2019t need to be told to weather a storm with a good man.\u201d<\/p>\n
