(KOLO) – Reno Pro Soccer is moving forward with their plans to build a 6,000-seat soccer stadium at the old Corwin Ford property on Kietzke Lane.

A few days ago, they submitted project entitlement and applications to the City of Reno, and now they wait for approval and have more meetings on the docket with the regional planning commission and other city agencies to work together to get plans finalized so that they can break ground on this project.

CEO of Reno Pro Soccer Wendy Damonte says that this project has been in the works for a long time and she’s excited to see it start to be built.

“I’m really excited for the community to see this project come up and out of the ground.,” says Damonte. “160,000 cars drive by the project on I-580 every single day, so we feel like we’ve talked to more than 1,000 community members to help shape what the team’s name and colors and crests are going to look like, so that was a great process. And now we feel like we’re building it in the perfect spot in the heart of Reno and everyone’s going to be able to watch it be built.”

She also says that they’re going to start demolishing the buildings on the property this coming week to make way for building once plans are finalized.

Damonte says that not only are they going to build a soccer stadium but also an entertainment complex with a hotel, bars and restaurants.

“Beautiful entertainment district with 21 bars, restaurants, retail. There’s going to be a building dedicated to kids where they’ll be able to go up and get ice cream and have fun foods. And I’m trying to get us to have a slide off the side of that building,” says Damonte.

She adds that there will be ice cream vendors and other kid friendly than us as well so that there will be fun for the whole family in walking distance.

“Because people, I think families want to be able to come to a place, let their kids run free a little bit. I love the long rain theory of parenting, where you can give your kids a longer reign because you can see them, other eyes, parents’ eyes will be watching. It’ll be such a community feel,” says Damonte.”

Damonte also says that having a soccer stadium in Reno will put the biggest little city on the map for international travel since soccer is a highly watched international sport.

She says that they hope to start building the stadium this fall, and they hope to have the project complete completed by early 2028.

Copyright 2026 KOLO.
