Colby Covington says the longstanding beef between him and Jon Jones was fueled by testosterone \u2014 and not the good ol\u2019 fashioned natural kind.<\/p>\n
Covington and Jones were former roommates<\/a> while wrestling for Iowa Center Community College, and Colby claims their time together was all good \u2026 until Jones started taking steroids to bulk up. Things quickly went sideways from there as \u201cBones\u201d allegedly started raging out.<\/p>\n Colby laid out the story during a new interview with Daniel Cormier.<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t until my last year in college when he started using testosterone,\u201d he said (via MMAWeekly).<\/a> \u201cBecause he wanted to beef up from 197 to heavyweight. So his plan was like, \u2018Hey, let\u2019s just start doing a bunch of testosterone to get strength and get bigger.\u2019 That\u2019s when his mood swings started going all over the place.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe started yelling at me for little s–t. Like, I\u2019d leave my shoes up front by the door. \u2018What the f–k Colby? Why are your shoes by the door? I almost tripped on them.\u2019 Freaking out, making a big deal out of something. I\u2019m being real. That\u2019s the honest truth.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe would freak out about little s–t that didn\u2019t matter just because he was having mood swings from all the chemicals and the steroids he was putting in his body. That\u2019s facts. No one can dispute that. He failed two or three steroid tests. The guy\u2019s a cheater, bro. He was doing it in college because he wanted to bulk up to heavyweight. He didn\u2019t want to go 197 anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n Jones has failed multiple tests and never provided particularly convincing excuses as to why. He blamed one drug test failure on tainted erection medication, but the person who gave him the \u2018boner pills\u2019 ordered them alongside clomiphene,<\/a> the PED Jones was caught using.<\/p>\n Then there was the pulsing picograms of Turinabol metabolite that showed up in Jones\u2019 system. A lot of work went into explaining<\/a> how tiny traces of metabolites can show up in an athlete\u2019s system \u2026 not so much explanation for how those metabolites got there in the first place.<\/p>\n
