A report on Anti-Sikh discrimination will be released in Brampton this weekend.<\/p>\n

The World Sikh Organization of Canada (WSO) says the report will focus on the challenges faced by Sikh Canadians and outline measures to confront hate and strengthen inclusion.<\/p>\n

Brampton will be the first location where the report is released, but other launches will be held in Surrey, Calgary and Winnipeg.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnti-Sikh hate is real, and it must be confronted,\u201d reads a statement by the WSO.<\/p>\n

The report and meeting to discuss it will take place tomorrow, April 18, at Brampton City Hall from 6 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

Participants are encouraged to register for the event<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Featured speakers will include Senator Baltej Singh Dhillon, the first turbaned Sikh to serve in the RCMP, and Gurbaj Singh Multani, who won a landmark Supreme Court of Canada case that affirmed the right of Sikhs to wear the kirpan in Canada.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the panel is Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Bal, who will provide insight into how anti-Sikh hate impacts young people today.<\/p>\n

The WSO says the report draws on the information obtained from over 1,700 survey responses and information gathered from participants at town hall meetings across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis report is more than data; it\u2019s a call to stand up, speak out, and push for change,\u201d says the WSO, adding that it reveals the impact of hate on the Sikh community.<\/p>\n
