{"id":610481,"date":"2026-04-17T15:42:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T15:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/610481\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T15:42:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T15:42:08","slug":"tempo-to-open-athlete-performance-and-training-centre-in-2028","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/610481\/","title":{"rendered":"Tempo to open athlete performance and training centre in 2028"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The dedicated performance centre is expected to open in 2028 at Exhibition Place just steps from Coca-Cola Coliseum, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TempoBasketball\/status\/2045140565252096285?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">the team announced<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The facility will house two WNBA regulation courts, various player amenities and locker rooms equipped with training and recovery resources. <\/p>\n<p>The announcement was made at the team&#8217;s home arena, Coca-Cola Coliseum, with majority owner Larry Tanenbaum, Tempo president Teresa Resch, Mayor Olivia Chow and Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik on hand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis\u00a0performance\u00a0centre\u00a0is about building the foundation for sustained excellence,\u201d general manager Monica Wright Rogers said in a statement sent out by the team. \u201cOur players deserve a world-class environment that supports every aspect of their development,\u00a0and our community deserves access to spaces that inspire the next generation. This facility will be both.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The facility will be built on an &#8220;underused&#8221; parking lot at Exhibition Place.<\/p>\n<p>It will also be available to the community during the off-season and when the Tempo are out of town for up to 2,200 hours of programming per year.
