Abbotsford impaired driver nabbed after swerving into officers\u2019 lane<\/p>\n

A driver who swerved into the lane of an Abbotsford Police vehicle on Thursday night (April 16) received a 90-day driving suspension for being impaired.<\/p>\n
A social media post by the Abbotsford Police Department stated that the incident began when patrol officers who were travelling east on Highway 1 noticed an SUV that was \u201cplaying a spirited game of \u2018pick a lane.\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n
Officers followed the vehicle as it exited at Clearbrook Road and continued north.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt one point, the fully marked police vehicle was driving alongside the SUV, operated by a 25-year-old Class 7 N driver \u2013 clearly unfazed by the presence of a police car,\u201d the post states.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuddenly, and without warning, the driver swerved directly into the officers\u2019 lane, narrowly missing sideswiping a police vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n
The officer immediately stopped the vehicle, and the driver failed a breathalyzer. In addition to the 90-day suspension, the person was ticketed for driving contrary to their licence restrictions and driving without due care and attention.<\/p>\n
Their vehicle was also impounded for 30 days.<\/p>\n
The post states that so far this year, officers have removed 293 impaired drivers from Abbotsford roads.<\/p>\n
