\n The application, which was submitted by The Padel Port to Wyre Forest District Council, would see a former storage unit at 5-7 Severnside Business Park transformed into a Pilates exercise studio.\n<\/p>\n
\n The leisure facility would have three padel courts, two Pilates studios and an ancillary coffee shop and retail stand.\n<\/p>\n
\n The applicant said: “The proposal represents a significant opportunity to re-use an underutilised warehouse building for a community-oriented leisure purpose, delivering new employment, social and health benefits in a sustainable manner.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK and globally, recently endorsed by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) in the UK.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Pilates is a globally recognised discipline, valued for improving flexibility, strength, posture and mental wellbeing. Together, padel and Pilates create a truly inclusive mix, appealing across demographics from young people to older adults, and from casual players to committed fitness users.”\n<\/p>\n
\n There will be 30 car parking spaces including three disabled spaces.\n<\/p>\n
\n Sustainable transport will be encouraged with cycle spaces and EV charging spaces.\n<\/p>\n
\n The plans will create around 10 full-time equivalent jobs, including management, front of house, instructors and coaches, caf\u00e9 and retail staff and cleaning and maintenance.\n<\/p>\n
\n The applicant said: “The proposed change of use is a sustainable re-use of a brownfield employment building, delivering a modern, inclusive leisure facility in line with local and national policy, new jobs and economic activity, supporting Wyre Forest’s employment and regeneration objectives, health and social benefits through increased access to active recreation, no harm to heritage assets, flood risk resilience and sufficient parking provision.\n<\/p>\n
\n The plan was approved with conditions at the planning committee meeting on April 14.\n<\/p>\n
