Vancouver Canucks<\/a>.<\/p>\nInitially, the update on Forbort was that he was day-to-day. A few weeks later, the Canucks shared that Forbort had a setback, and was being considered week-to-week. Then at the end of October, the Canucks placed Forbort on long-term injured reserve. We didn\u2019t see Forbort again for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n
Speaking to media for the first time since then during players\u2019 end-of-season media availabilities at Rogers Arena, Forbort detailed some of what he went through this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cKind of started before training camp, started having some, some hip issues. Was able to get through training camp with a cortisone injection that kind of wore off. Ended up doing like a PRP injection in Toronto, had a pretty bad reaction to that. And then kind of once that calmed down, we were just trying to rehab, rehab, tried a bunch of things, and then it just kind of got to the point where I had to get the labral tear in my hip fixed, and I had surgery for that, and I\u2019ve just been rehabbing now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Forbort, who turned 34 in March, was then asked whether or not he\u2019d be able to continue his playing career next season.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, I\u2019d like to try and maybe grind out a couple more [seasons] depending how it feels,\u201d Forbort said. \u201cJust talking to the surgeon, he said it\u2019s gonna solve a lot of the issues that I\u2019ve had the last couple years. So hopefully makes a big difference and [I] can try and continue playing.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Canucks initially signed Forbort as a free agent for the 2024-25 season. An elite penalty-killer, Forbort appeared in 54 games for the club, and re-signed on a one-year deal valued at $2 million for this season. Forbort is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.<\/p>\n
