\n\tAll seven members of BTS<\/a> play an important part in the band\u2019s dynamic, including j-hope<\/a> \u2014 who opened up about what he thinks his \u201crole\u201d is in the group.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile speaking to Rolling Stone in a one-on-one interview posted Friday (April 17) as part of BTS\u2019 cover-story package, the K-pop performer addressed how bandmate RM \u2014 who is the official designated leader of the group \u2014 has referred to j-hope as a reliable co-leader at times. \u201cI just do what I can,\u201d j-hope told the publication, disagreeing with the notion that it\u2019s a \u201cburden\u201d to be a leader.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think that\u2019s my role on the team,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd, well, I don\u2019t think of it as a requirement. It just comes naturally \u2026 Should I even call it that? It feels weird to call it a \u2018role.\u2019 But all I can do is take it in stride and do what I can for the other members.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEach of the bandmates took part in solo interviews with the publication, as well as sat together for a full-group conversation. The Bangtan Boys are currently on their third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200<\/a> with new album ARIRANG, which anchors the band\u2019s ongoing global stadium tour.<\/p>\n

\n\tLeading up to the LP\u2019s release in late March, the pressure was on for BTS to finally return after years apart as the members served in the South Korean military. When asked about how the band easily could\u2019ve chosen not to reunite, having already secured historic success leading up to the break, j-hope told Rolling Stone, \u201cPersonally, I\u2019m very affected by the people around me, so I have to think about whether I can handle the emotional effect my decisions will have on so many others.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI struggled with that,\u201d he added. \u201cIn the end, I felt that keeping the flame burning is what I truly want, and the choice that feels most authentically me.\u201d<\/p>\n
