Boxing Social\u2019s Liliana Ulloa reported<\/a> at the time, Lani Daniels defeated Green in a stunning upset during the MVP show Alycia Baumgardner headlined at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York, with the underdog toppling Green in the ninth round to claim the IBF and WBO world titles at super middleweight.<\/p>\nIt wasn\u2019t the result that was unsettling, though, but rather the way in which Green reacted. Daniels battered \u201ca visibly worn and bloodied Green,\u201d per Ulloa, until the referee Eric Dali had seen enough and called it all off just 32 seconds into the round.<\/p>\n
Green required medical attention while on her stool. She was then placed on a stretcher and carried out of the ring, to be transported to hospital. MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian accompanied her, and was unable to take questions at the post-fight press conference.<\/p>\n
The commentary team on the broadcast said later that Green was conscious and recovering.<\/p>\n
Another MVP exec, Mike Leanardi, who is the director of boxing, said: \u201cShadasia is awake and talkative.\u201d<\/p>\n
Green, 36, was considered heading into the fight one of the best in and around her weight class after rebounding with three wins, including a split decision over Savannah Marshall, since losing a decision to Franchon Crews-Dezurn in 2023.<\/p>\n
She had even been linked with a big-money bout against Claressa Shields. It is unclear, now, if that fight will ever get made as Green, instead, recovers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a scary moment for all of us, but she\u2019s looking much better,\u201d Leanardi told reporters.<\/p>\n
Daniels, meanwhile, said: \u201cI hope that everything is well,\u201d before also getting transported to hospital as a precautionary measure.<\/p>\n
