ErasIt<\/p>\nIf you took the worldbuilding of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the gameplay formula of Valheim and blended them together, you\u2019d end up with something like Bread and Blood.<\/p>\n
Developed by indie team ErasIt, Bread and Blood is an upcoming survival RPG set within medieval Europe.<\/p>\n
Playings will \u201crise from a poor peasant to power – or die trying\u201d in what looks to be a brutal but accessible experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cSurvive, earn wealth, and carve your place in a brutal world where freedom comes at a cost,\u201d the synopsis teases.<\/p>\n
\u201cSet in the dark Middle Ages, you are free to go wherever you wish and live however you choose \u2014 honest worker, struggling farmer, or ruthless bandit.\u201d<\/p>\n
In Bread and Blood, There Are Taxes To Pay For A Lowly Peasant<\/p>\n
In order to survive, you\u2019ll need to partake in all of the usual survival fare, including foraging, hunting, farming, trading, or perhaps even stealing and robbing if it comes to it.<\/p>\n
You see, Bread and Blood requires you to pay your taxes, so you\u2019re going to have to do it by any means necessary.<\/p>\n
There are many taxes to contend with too.<\/p>\n
Players will need to pay guards for protection from bandits, bandits so they don\u2019t target you, the church \u201cto avoid divine wrath\u201d, and the local lord because he\u2019s, well, the local lord and he demands it.<\/p>\n
Video games so often place us within the shoes of the chosen one who can rise up to be this powerful saviour.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s not the case here. You\u2019re just a lowly peasant.<\/p>\n
You can pick from various trades to earn money, including butchery, cobbling, and craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

The more you train at your craft, the more money you\u2019ll earn as your skills improve.<\/p>\n
Eventually, once you\u2019ve gathered enough money, players can build a small base of their own.<\/p>\n
\u201cBuild and upgrade your home, and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Just remember\u2026 it still belongs to the lord. And yes, there are taxes,\u201d devs warn.<\/p>\n
Bread and Blood does not yet have a release date, but we do know that Steam<\/a> is currently its only confirmed platform.<\/p>\n There, you can actually sample the game for free as Bread and Blood already has a demo available.<\/p>\n It\u2019s not a very long demo, lasting for just around 15 minutes but I\u2019ve seen some gameplay and it looks pretty entertaining.<\/p>\n
