Jannik Sinner is just at the start of his tennis career, but by the time he retires, he would love to be mentioned in the conversation regarding who was the sport’s best with the likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.<\/p>\n

The Italian has made a fine start to his 2026, as he has already claimed three Masters 1000 titles with Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo.<\/p>\n

Sinner\u2019s three titles at this level, added to his victory in Paris last year, meant he claimed four consecutive Masters 1000 trophies.<\/p>\n

It has now been confirmed that the 24-year-old will be taking part in the Madrid Open, with there being a likelihood he could make history in the competition, particularly following the withdrawal by Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> from the tournament due to injury.<\/p>\n

So, this would be the best time for Sinner to achieve a unique feat in the Spanish capital, something that neither great of Federer or Djokovic could manage in their careers.<\/p>\n

Sinner could become the first tennis player to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles should he lift the title in Madrid.<\/p>\n

The Italian may feel like he could waltz to this unique piece of history with his greatest rival, Alcaraz, missing, but also a man who would be desperate to stop Sinner<\/a> achieving this piece of history, Djokovic<\/a>, will also be absent as he does not believe he is physically ready for the challenge.<\/p>\n

Madrid is preparing for the arrival of the greatest tennis players next week, and there may be hope from some pockets of the sports fans, particularly those in attendance of the event, that they could witness a unique piece of history.<\/p>\n

Sinner may feel like this would be the perfect preparation ahead of Roland Garros in late May, as he looks to complete his Grand Slam collection, with the French Open being the only title that he is missing, as he has struggled to overcome Alcaraz on clay courts.<\/p>\n
