{"id":615160,"date":"2026-04-19T20:49:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T20:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/615160\/"},"modified":"2026-04-19T20:49:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T20:49:08","slug":"mens-soccer-wins-inaugural-northeast-spring-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/615160\/","title":{"rendered":"Men\u2019s Soccer Wins Inaugural Northeast Spring Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.\u00a0\u2013 Boston College men&#8217;s soccer won the inaugural Northeast Spring Cup on Saturday evening, defeating Bryant in penalty kicks, 4-3, after playing to a 0-0 draw in the championship match at Centreville Bank Stadium, home of USL Championship team Rhode Island FC.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAfter a scoreless draw, the game went to penalty kicks to determine the winner of the inaugural tournament. <a href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/moritz-gundelach\/25699\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"25699\" target=\"_blank\">Moritz Gundelach<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/dylan-mafong\/25701\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"25701\" target=\"_blank\">Dylan Mafong<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/bryan-toro\/25708\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"25708\" target=\"_blank\">Bryan Toro<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/erick-almendares\/25688\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"25688\" target=\"_blank\">Erick Almendares<\/a> each netted a penalty kick for BC, while <a href=\"https:\/\/bceagles.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/andrej-borak\/25810\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"25810\" target=\"_blank\">Andrej Borak<\/a> made a crucial save on Bryant&#8217;s last attempt to claim the victory.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFollowing the match, Gundelach was named the MVP of the tournament.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nBC won the North Group after picking up seven points across the three group stage games. The Eagles opened the Cup at Vermont, playing to a 1-1 draw against the Catamounts before a 5-4 penalty shootout victory to pick up the extra point.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nBoston College made the short trip to Boston University or its next match and earned a 3-1 win over its local rival.
