Deanna Haywahe and Eryn McArthur were first in line to meet members of the first-place team.<\/p>\n
Vendors at the First Nations University\u2019s Spring Celebration Powwow, Haywahe and McArthur greeted two Saskatchewan Roughriders players \u2014 fullback Albert Awachie and receiver Mitch Picton \u2014 by presenting them with team-themed, hand-made, beaded leather keychains.<\/p>\n
Photos were then taken with the Grey Cup on Sunday afternoon at the Brandt Centre, situated on Treaty 4 territory.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been a fan of the Roughriders for at least 25 years,\u201d said Haywahe \u2014 who, like McArthur, is from Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was just overwhelmed to see the Grey Cup and touch it and kiss it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Whereas Haywahe had been introduced to the CFL\u2019s most-coveted prize several years earlier, McArthur had never seen the Grey Cup in person until Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s awesome!\u201d McArthur said. \u201cI got really shaky and excited.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of energy coming from it. You can feel the good vibes. They\u2019re radiating from it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Haywahe and McArthur represented the Broken Arrow Trading Post at the two-day powwow, which concluded Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is quintessentially Saskatchewan,\u201d Roughriders President-CEO Craig Reynolds said. \u201cThere\u2019s so many people here. It\u2019s a celebratory event and, as a result of that, people are celebrating the Cup again.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was amazing to be in the Grand Entrance with Albert and Mitch and Gainer. When Albert raised the Cup and you hear the roar of the crowd, it never gets old.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s pretty special to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Grey Cup Community Tour wrapped up at the same event \u2014 71 days after the first stop.<\/p>\n
