{"id":616431,"date":"2026-04-20T11:56:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T11:56:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/616431\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T11:56:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T11:56:11","slug":"sexual-assault-near-church-and-the-esplanade-toronto-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/616431\/","title":{"rendered":"Sexual assault near Church and The Esplanade: Toronto police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto police say they are trying to identify a suspect following a sexual assault in the city\u2019s St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to police, the assault occurred at around 6:45 a.m. on Sunday in the area of Church Street and The Esplanade. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said the suspect approached the victim from behind, forced them into an isolated area, and sexually assaulted the victim. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A passerby intervened and the suspect fled the area, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The suspect has been described by investigators as a black male, who is between 25 and 30 years old, is approximately five feet, 10 inches tall, and has a thin build. He was wearing a green or grey jacket, a grey hooded sweater, dark baggy pants, and dark Nike shoes.
