{"id":616824,"date":"2026-04-20T16:03:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T16:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/616824\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T16:03:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T16:03:10","slug":"max-homas-spoiled-golfer-comment-comes-back-to-haunt-him-after-rbc-heritage-club-throwing-meltdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/616824\/","title":{"rendered":"Max Homa&#8217;s &#8216;spoiled&#8217; golfer comment comes back to haunt him after RBC Heritage club-throwing meltdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Six-time\u00a0PGA Tour\u00a0winner Max Homa\u2019s previous criticism of \u201cspoiled\u201d golfers has come back to haunt him this weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the final round of the\u00a0RBC Heritage\u00a0at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Homa let his frustrations get the best of him when he flung his club several yards after failing to get back on the fairway on the 15th hole.<\/p>\n<p>He bogeyed the hole and finished the tournament tied for 69th.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Homa\u2019s reaction didn\u2019t stand out from other pros, but it was his previous criticisms of golfers beating up the course that triggered a harsh backlash on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Homa, 35, was asked Wednesday about the code of conduct at\u00a0the Masters\u00a0and what he thinks dictates a violation following Sergio Garcia\u2019s code-of-conduct warning for beating up a tee box. <\/p>\n<p>Homa did not directly mention Garcia\u2019s name but took issue with those types of meltdowns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t like when people break clubs. And when it does happen, as far as slamming a tee box, I\u2019m very upset with myself, because we\u2019re very lucky to play this game where we do, and I think it is a bad look.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Golf fans on social media were quick to point out the hypocrisy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSet himself up after Sergio comment smh,\u201d one person wrote on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMax: Do as I say, not as I do,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSame guy that was on his high horse a few days ago saying it makes you look spoiled if you throw your club?\u201d a different comment read.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Garcia apologized for his outburst\u00a0in a post to social media on Tuesday.
