And if we get to the other side of a positive resolution in the Iran conflict, I\u2019d be surprised if anyone felt like something else wasn\u2019t going to pop up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpamag.com\/ca\/mortgage-industry\/industry-trends\/crea-downgrades-canada-home-sales-price-forecast-for-2026\/572004\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">downgraded its forecast<\/a> for 2026 national home sales, citing \u201cglobal economic uncertainty\u201d as part of the reason for that change.<\/p>\n<p>A jump in fixed mortgage rates because of inflation also caused the revision, according to CREA senior economist Shaun Cathcart.<\/p>\n<p>Fox expects the Trump effect to continue exerting a powerful influence over the Canadian housing market for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me, the biggest argument that you could make that the market isn\u2019t going to rebound is that the decisions that he\u2019s made have shown to have such an impact on the real estate market here,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s hard to imagine he\u2019s not going to keep down that path, even though we don\u2019t necessarily know what he\u2019s going to do next.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cI think there are two core dynamics at play.
