Morgan Brian won the World Cup with the USWNT in 2015 &amp; 2019.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1 &#8211; One winner has gone on to win an Olympic Gold Medal. Korbin Albert won the Olympic Gold with the USWNT in 2024.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1 &#8211; Only one defender has ever won the award. That was Kadeisha Buchanan in 2016 after her impressive center back play led West Virginia to a fairy tale College Cup final.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2 &#8211; Two sophomores have won the award. Korbin Albert of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/notre-dame\/clgid-43\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Notre Dame<\/a> in 2022 and Catarina Macario of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/stanford\/clgid-267\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stanford<\/a> in 2018.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2 &#8211; Two players have won the award twice. Morgan Brian (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/virginia\/clgid-32\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Virginia<\/a> 2013 &amp; 2014) and Catarina Macario (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/stanford\/clgid-267\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stanford<\/a> 2018 &amp; 2019).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2 &#8211; Two winners went on to be No. 1 NWSL draft picks. Morgan Brian was selected by the Houston Dash in 2015 and Andi Sullivan by the Washington Spirit in 2018.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3 &#8211; A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/stanford\/clgid-267\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stanford<\/a> Cardinal won the award three years in a row starting with Andi Sullivan in 2017 and Cataria Macario in 2018 &amp; 2019.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3 &#8211; Three POTY winners have gone on to become senior internationals for other countries. Teresa Noyola (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/stanford\/clgid-267\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stanford<\/a>\u00a02011) went on to make 40 appearances for Mexico. Kadeisha Buchanan (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/west-virginia\/clgid-54\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">West Virginia<\/a> 2016) has played 154 matches for Canada. Rocky Rodriguez (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/penn-state\/clgid-503\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Penn State<\/a> 2015) has earned 107 caps for Costa Rica.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3 &#8211; Three recipients have also won the TDS Freshman of the Year award. Morgan Brian won the rookie award in 2011, Andi Sullivan in 2014, and Catarina Macario in 2017.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">4 &#8211; Four juniors have won the award. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-player-profile\/kate-faasse\/cpid-122433\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kate Faasse<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/north-carolina\/clgid-26\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">North Carolina<\/a> in 2024, Lexi Missimo of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/texas\/clgid-208\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas<\/a> in 2023, Catarina Macario of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/stanford\/clgid-267\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stanford<\/a> in 2019, and Morgan Brian of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/virginia\/clgid-32\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Virginia<\/a> in 2013.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">4 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/stanford\/clgid-267\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stanford<\/a> leads the way with four trophies spread between Catarina Macario winning twice, preceded by Andi Sullivan and Teresa Noyola. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/virginia\/clgid-32\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Virginia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topdrawersoccer.com\/college-soccer\/college-soccer-details\/women\/penn-state\/clgid-503\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Penn State<\/a> are tied for second with two each.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">4 &#8211; There have been four winners born outside of the United States. Teresa Noyola (Mexico), Rocky Rodriguez (Costa Rica), Kadeisha Buchanan (Canada), Catarina Macario (Brazil).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">6 &#8211; Number of players who won the award and national championship in the same season. Her 23 assists from the same year also set the record as did the 87 points garnered.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">193 &#8211; Number of appearances the winners have made for the U.S. Women\u2019s National Team.
