EAST LANSING, Mich. \u2013 Michigan State’s men’s golf team shot a 4-over par 580 over two rounds and tied for second place among 13 teams at the Muirfield Shootout, held at the Country Club of Muirfield in Dublin, Ohio.<\/a><\/p>\n

The one-day, 36-hole tournament was played on the par-72, 7,320-yard course and each of the 13 teams played six golfers, with the low four scores counting toward the team total.<\/p>\n

MSU shot a 4-over par 292 in the first round before coming back with an even-par 288 in the second to tie for second at 4-over par 580.<\/p>\n

Kent State won the event at 3-over par 579 and the Spartans tied for second place with host Miami (Ohio) and Eastern Michigan, with Xavier fifth at 6-over par 582.<\/p>\n

Senior Ashton McCulloch<\/a> led the Spartans, finishing in third place at 1-under par 143 (72-71), closing with a 1-under par in the second round.<\/p>\n

Freshman Luke Mueller<\/a> had the best finish of his career, tying for fourth place at even-par 144 (70-72), firing a 2-under par 70 in the first round.<\/p>\n

Senior Caleb Bond<\/a> tied for 16th place at 2-over par 146 (75-71), while junior Julian Menser<\/a> tied for 18th place at 3-over par 147 (75-72).<\/p>\n

Junior McCoy Biagioli<\/a> tied for 39th place with a score of 7-over par 151 (75-76) and classmate Lorenzo Pinili<\/a> tied for 42nd place at 8-over par 152 (77-75).<\/p>\n

The Spartans next compete in the Big Ten Championships, being played at Pumpkin Ridge in North Plains, Ore. from Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3.
