With the 2026 NFL Draft set to begin Thursday night, things have changed in a big way for the Giants<\/a>.<\/p>\n

By trading star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence<\/a> to the Bengals, they added the 10th overall pick.<\/p>\n

So let\u2019s bring you our latest Giants seven-round mock projection, as John Harbaugh<\/a> rebuilds this franchise.<\/p>\n

To make this projection more realistic, we used Pro Football Focus\u2019 mock draft simulator<\/a> to make the non-Giants selections.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Round 1 (No. 5): RB Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame<\/p>\n

In this simulation, the first four picks were quarterback Fernando Mendoza<\/a>, edge rusher Arvell Reese<\/a>, linebacker Sonny Styles<\/a> and edge rusher David Bailey<\/a>. With Styles gone, Harbaugh opts for a big-time offensive weapon at No. 5 over safety Caleb Downs<\/a>. Of course, there are no guarantees Love falls this far.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Round 1 (No. 10): WR Jordyn Tyson<\/a>, Arizona State<\/p>\n

From Nos. 6-10, these players were taken: offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa<\/a>, edge rusher Rueben Bain, wide receiver Carnell Tate<\/a> and Downs. Tyson is the expected pick for Harbaugh at No. 10, as he passes on Makai Lemon<\/a> and continues to bolster his offense. Harbaugh desperately needs an upgrade from Darius Slayton<\/a> at the receiver spot opposite Malik Nabers<\/a>. Tyson gives him that.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Round 2 (No. 37): OG Emmanuel Pregnon<\/a>, Oregon<\/a><\/p>\n

Instead of reaching for a defensive tackle to replace Lawrence<\/a> \u2014 and this isn\u2019t a great draft for that position \u2014 Harbaugh gets a much-needed piece for his offensive line.<\/p>\n

He has big-time issues at both guard spots. And Pregnon \u201chas the prototypical frame of a downhill blocker,\u201d according to his NFL.com scouting report<\/a>. Plus, the Giants are expected to sign veteran D.J. Reader (128 career starts) after the draft to help replace Lawrence.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Round 4 (No. 105): CB Malik Muhammad, Texas<\/a><\/p>\n

He isn\u2019t going to be a sure-thing Day 1 option as the Giants\u2019 No. 1 corner. (He\u2019s a fourth-round pick, after all.) But Harbaugh needs to do something to address his less-than-ideal corner situation.<\/p>\n

Muhammad, who is 6 feet and 182 pounds, must get bigger and stronger.<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s a lot to like about him, including these items from his NFL.com scouting report<\/a>: \u201cHe can man up from press or off and is a plus pattern-matcher, staying in-phase and shadowing break points. He displays outstanding vision and adheres to his zone-cover principles, allowing him to play with ideal efficiency on all three levels.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2022 Round 5 (No. 145): DT DeMonte Capehart<\/a>, Clemson<\/p>\n

Lawrence also went to Clemson back in the day, for what it\u2019s worth. Obviously, Capehart will not be expected to solely replace Lawrence immediately (if ever). But he provides some depth along the interior defensive line, in the wake of Lawrence\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Round 6 (No. 186): C Pat Coogan<\/a>, Indiana<\/a><\/p>\n

John Michael Schmitz<\/a> has failed to impress through three seasons and is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Coogan can slot in as his backup in 2026, spend time learning and maybe compete for the starting job in 2027.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Round 6 (No. 192): S Cole Wisniewski<\/a>, Texas Tech<\/p>\n

Some safety depth and special teams help, with Downs already in the mix. Wisniewski\u2019s run-stopping skills will intrigue Harbaugh. But Wisniewski must prove he can consistently stay healthy.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Round 6 (No. 193): Edge rusher Quintayvious Hutchins, Boston College<\/a><\/p>\n

An undersized player who plays stronger than he looks. From his NFL.com scouting report<\/a>: \u201cHe\u2019s an above-average athlete with good short-area burst when pursuing runners and quarterbacks. Hutchins should compete for a backup role as a stand-up edge and become a plus contributor on special teams.\u201d<\/p>\n
