Surrey records 15 extortion-related shootings so far in 2026<\/p>\n

An April 13 shooting at a home in Surrey\u2019s <\/a>Whalley <\/a>neighbourhood is now considered to be extortion-related, police confirmed Tuesday (April 21).<\/p>\n Surrey Police responded to a call of gunshots in the 9500-block of 127 Street around 2:50 a.m. on April 13. Police found that a home in the area was damaged by gunfire. Fortunately, none of the home\u2019s occupants were injured, SPS said in a release.<\/p>\n SPS Major Crime Section investigators and Integrated Forensic Identification Services officers are assisting with the investigation.<\/p>\n The motive for the shooting was unknown at first, but Surrey Police later confirmed to the Surrey Now-Leader that it was extortion-related.<\/p>\n This is Surrey\u2019s 15th extortion-related shooting this year.
