TALLADEGA, Ala. (WBTV) – A NASCAR driver who was suspended indefinitely<\/a> will return to racing this weekend.<\/p>\n

The driver, Daniel Dye, was suspended indefinitely on March 17, after he made comments about IndyCar driver David Malukas on a stream.<\/p>\n

During that stream, Dye — who drove the No. 10 in the Truck Series –was opening trading cards with a couple other people when he mocked Malukas\u2019 voice and called it his \u201cDavid Malukas gay voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Per the terms of his suspension, Dye had to undergo sensitivity training before he could race again.<\/p>\n

When news broke that Dye\u2019s suspension was lifted on March 31, Kaulig Racing said Dye had resigned<\/a> from his position as the driver of the No. 10 truck. He was replaced with veteran driver Corey LaJoie.<\/p>\n

Following his resignation from Kaulig Racing, Dye said in a statement<\/a> that his focus was on the \u201clong-term objective of becoming a successful driver at the highest level of stock car racing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The highest level of stock car racing is, of course, the NASCAR Cup Series — a series in which Dye has not previously raced.<\/p>\n

That will change this weekend, though, after Live Fast Motorsports announced<\/a> that Dye will drive the No. 78 car in four Cup Series races in 2026, beginning on April 26 at Talladega Superspeedway.<\/p>\n

At just 22 years old, Dye already has nearly 100 NASCAR starts under his belt, although all have come in the O\u2019Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Truck Series. He does not have a win in 97 starts between the two series but does have 20 top-10 finishes.<\/p>\n

With 41 cars on the entry list<\/a> for Sunday\u2019s race at Talladega, Dye will have to earn his Cup debut in qualifying, as only 40 cars will compete on race day.<\/p>\n

In addition to the spring Talladega race, Dye is also scheduled to drive for Live Fast at Pocono in June, at Daytona in August, and at Talladega again in October.<\/p>\n
