{"id":619792,"date":"2026-04-21T23:06:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T23:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/619792\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T23:06:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T23:06:16","slug":"canada-post-reporting-worsening-financial-situation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/619792\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada Post Reporting Worsening Financial Situation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Canada-Post-Headquarters-1.jpg\" class=\"header-image\" alt=\"Canada Post Reporting Worsening Financial Situation\"\/>\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Canada Post says its financial situation has worsened with the Crown corporation posting a record $1.57 billion loss before tax last year. <\/p>\n<p>Revenue dropped $315 million in 2025 compared to the previous year \u2013 something the company attributes to labour uncertainty involving the millions of employees represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.<\/p>\n<p>Canada Post believes its services were viewed as unreliable due to rotating strikes \u2013 leading to a 32.6 per cent drop in parcel volume.<\/p>\n<p>Adding insult to injury was the corporation\u2019s inability to compete with other carriers which offer delivery after hours and on weekends.<\/p>\n<p>Canada Post received a federal loan to the tune of over $1 billion last year, but it wasn\u2019t enough to cover the losses suffered.
