Metallica<\/a>\u2019s Rob Trujillo<\/a> was among the select few who attended Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>\u2019s small private funeral<\/a> held on July 31st at the Osbourne\u2019s Birminghamshire estate.<\/p>\n

Before joining Metallica, Trujillo played bass in Ozzy\u2019s solo band in the late 1990s, co-writing material on the 2001 album Down to Earth. The bassist was joined by numerous musical colleagues of Ozzy\u2019s at the July 31st service, including the three surviving members of Black Sabbath \u2014 Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward \u2014 as well as Slipknot\u2019s Corey Taylor, Zakk Wylde, Marilyn Manson, and more.<\/p>\n

Trujillo opened up about the funeral and his recollections of the day in a new interview on SiriusXM\u2019s \u201cTrunk Nation with Eddie Trunk.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a small group of people, but it was very, very beautiful,\u201d he told Trunk [as transcribed by Blabbermouth<\/a>]. \u201cAnd in the end, the speeches were actually\u2026 I mean, it was very sad, but at the same time some of the speeches were \u2014 as you could imagine \u2014 pretty funny. And there were a lot of tears\u2026 Geezer broke down into tears. He had a hard time, obviously, speaking, and then he came back up and he delivered an amazing eulogy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trujillo continued, \u201cIt had been raining at the beginning of the service\u2026 and then as it sort of progressed through the service, the weather would change and different things would happen. When Kelly [Osbourne] was singing, her lyrics flew \u2014 the wind blew her lyrics away. It was almost like Ozzy was having fun with her. And then when Geezer spoke, actually spoke, the sun came out. I\u2019m not kidding. The sun actually came out, and then it was beautiful from that moment on \u2014 a very magical moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trujillo went on to say that the funeral felt like \u201cclosure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople [were] sharing stories,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd all of a sudden, there was laughter, and \u2018I remember this\u2019, \u2018I remember that\u2019. There were so many stories. \u2026 And I\u2019m glad that we went \u2014 my wife Chloe and I went \u2014 and shared that and were able to have that moment with the family and everything. So it was very beautiful. And again, heartfelt words from so many people and kind of reconnecting with different musicians and bandmates, crew members, all that.\u201d<\/p>\n

As previously reported, a procession through Birmingham<\/a> preceded the private service the day prior, with thousands of fans gathering along the streets to pay their final respects to the Prince of Darkness.
