A Calgary man is facing a string of charges after police seized weapons and drugs while arresting him as part of an arson investigation.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews were called to a home in the southwest community of Bridlewood around 3 a.m. on Apr. 1 where a detached garage was found on fire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Investigators determined two people had entered the backyard, deliberately set the garage on fire and tried to set the house on fire before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.<\/p>\n

The getaway vehicle was identified as stolen. <\/p>\n

Officers later found the vehicle and arrested a suspect. Police say several items were seized from the vehicle, including a shotgun, fentanyl, a hatchet and clothing believed to match what one of the arson suspects wore during the incident.<\/p>\n

Michael Keith Caseley, 49, has been charged with arson with disregard for human life, possession of drugs, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, driving while disqualified and several traffic\u2011related offences.<\/p>\n

Police say there will be additional weapons charges after the examination of the seized shotgun.<\/p>\n

The investigation is ongoing.
