\n\tRebel Wilson<\/a> has faced allegations that she made life \u201cnightmarish\u201d for Charlotte MacInnes<\/a> after accusing The Deb<\/a> actress of covering up misconduct to further her career. <\/p>\n

\n\tMacInnes is suing Wilson for defamation in Australia, with details from behind the scenes on The Deb \u2014 Wilson\u2019s directorial debut \u2014 emerging as part of a federal court trial in Sydney this week. <\/p>\n

\n\tMacInnes started giving evidence on Wednesday, but her testimony was cut short as the court adjourned for the day. The trial is expected to continue for nine days in total.<\/p>\n

\n\tThose close to MacInnes have described how Wilson\u2019s Instagram posts and alleged conduct impacted the young actress and singer. <\/p>\n

\n\tWilson\u2019s position is that MacInnes was made to feel uncomfortable by The Deb producer Amanda Ghost<\/a> after they shared a bath in 2023. Wilson has further alleged that MacInnes later withdrew her complaint after being given career opportunities by Ghost. MacInnes denies the claims.<\/p>\n

\n\tHannah Reilly, co-writer of The Deb and creator of the original stage show, said that MacInnes told her that the dispute had become an \u201call-consuming nightmarish force in her life.\u201d She added that MacInnes had become \u201chardened\u201d by the experience, according to an affidavit seen by Australian Associated Press.<\/p>\n

\n\tCarlo Boumouglbay, MacInnes\u2019 boyfriend, added in his affidavit that Wilson\u2019s conduct had \u201cdeeply wounded\u201d his partner. \u201cShe was also fearful because she thought Rebel was monitoring her at all times. She was fearful for her safety and felt vulnerable. Rebel\u2019s posts were really getting to her and breaking her down,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

\n\tBoumouglbay wrote that MacInnes was fearful that Wilson was \u201cmonitoring\u201d her and grew \u201csuspicious\u201d that \u201cRebel might be spreading misinformation about her and spinning some type of story,\u201d according to his affidavit seen by NewsWire.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe court heard how MacInnes secured a $110,000 record deal in late 2025 with Atlantic Records, owned by Warner Music Group, which is backed by Len Blavatnik\u2019s Access Industries. The Deb producer Ghost is the chair of Access-owned AI Film.<\/p>\n

\n\tShoshanna Stone, MacInnes\u2019 manager, told the court that she signed the singer after being informed of her talent by Ghost. Stone rejected suggestions that MacInnes\u2019 upcoming single, due to be released on Thursday, was timed to coincide with the trial.<\/p>\n

\n\tDauid Sibtain, Wilson\u2019s barrister, argued MacInnes hadn\u2019t suffered any harm to her career since Wilson\u2019s social media posts from September 2024.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Deb\u00a0dispute is\u00a0playing out across different fronts in Los Angeles and Australia, overshadowing\u00a0the feel-good movie about outback teens attending a debutante ball. The film was finally released in Australia earlier this month, but it does not yet have a distributor in the U.S.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe case continues.
