{"id":621266,"date":"2026-04-22T15:08:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T15:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/621266\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T15:08:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T15:08:14","slug":"first-footage-from-will-forte-comedy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/621266\/","title":{"rendered":"First Footage From Will Forte Comedy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe first trailer from one of the most notorious attempted tax write-offs in Hollywood history has arrived. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/coyote-vs-acme\/\" id=\"auto-tag_coyote-vs-acme_1\" data-tag=\"coyote-vs-acme\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coyote vs. Acme<\/a> \u2014 a film Warner Bros. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/john-cena-coyote-vs-acme-movie-shelved-1235643235\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">famously tried to scrap<\/a> in 2023 \u2014 has released its first footage ahead of coming to theaters this summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe footage shows Coyote hiring billboard accident lawyer Kevin Avery (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/will-forte\/\" id=\"auto-tag_will-forte_1\" data-tag=\"will-forte\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Forte<\/a>) and his legal team to sue the Acme corporation \u2014 represented by its slick corporate counsel, Buddy Crane (John Cena) \u2014 for its defective products. There are plenty of other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/looney-tunes\/\" id=\"auto-tag_looney-tunes_1\" data-tag=\"looney-tunes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Looney Tunes<\/a> characters as well, including Sylvester, Tweety and Foghorn Leghorn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe trailer teases the production\u2019s difficult journey to the screen with the tagline, \u201cThe Film Acme Didn\u2019t Want You to See.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWarner Bros. had planned to scrap the completed movie as part of a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/coyote-vs-acme-warner-bros-discovery-115m-write-down-mystery-projects-1235832120\/\">$115 million write-down<\/a>. Social media uproar helped to save the project, which Ketchup Entertainment acquired for distribution. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe shelving attempt was one of the first headline-making decisions under CEO David Zaslav (along with another high-profile and completed project, Batgirl). When Coyote vs. Acme is released theatrically on Aug. 28, it will doubtless be seen as a litmus test as to whether the studio\u2019s instincts were correct. The previous Warners regime greenlit the movie in December 2020 as a production for HBO Max. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tZaslav previously told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2023\/11\/29\/business\/dealbook-summit-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The New York Times<\/a> about the decision, \u201cThe question is, should we take certain of these movies and open them in the theater and spend another $30 or $40 million to promote them? And [the] Warner Bros. team and HBO made a number of decisions. They were hard. But when I look at the health of our company today, we needed to make those decisions. And it took real courage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tForte <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/coyote-vs-acme-debuts-footage-release-date-1236330211\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">told The Hollywood Reporter last year<\/a>, \u201cI never thought [the film would land distribution], so it just came out of nowhere, and I\u2019m so thrilled. I\u2019m so excited for people to see this movie. I\u2019m gonna promote the crap out of it. Just tell me what you want me to do and I\u2019ll go, I\u2019ll do whatever \u2014 go to the top of Mount Everest, I\u2019m there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCoyote vs. Acme is directed by Dave Green from a script by Samy Burch, with Burch, James Gunn and Jeremy Slater credited for the story. The film is based on Ian Frazier\u2019s \u201cCoyote v. Acme,\u201d a humor article published by\u00a0The New Yorker\u00a0in 1990.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe official description: \u201cAfter decades of being blown to bits by bombs, demolished by dynamite, mangled by magnets, battered by boulders, trampled by trains, tricked by tunnels, sprung by springs, steamrolled by steamrollers, maligned by misfires, bedeviled by bungees, rattled by rockets, backstabbed by bat suits, rocked by rocket skates, upended by unicycles, quaked by quake pills, rubberized by rogue bands, and hurled headlong off every cliff in the Southwest, Wile E.\u00a0Coyote\u00a0finally fights back.
