{"id":621318,"date":"2026-04-22T15:43:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T15:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/621318\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T15:43:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T15:43:08","slug":"city-of-montreal-puts-rev-extension-on-lacordaire-on-hold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/621318\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Montreal puts REV extension on Lacordaire on hold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Montreal has reportedly paused the R\u00e9seau express v\u00e9lo\u00a0(REV) extension on Lacordaire Boulevard in Montreal\u2019s east end.<\/p>\n<p>The project, which had been developed by the former Val\u00e9rie Plante administration, was intended to connect the boroughs of Montreal-Nord, Saint-L\u00e9onard, and Mercier\u2013Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. It was scheduled to open in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>According to TVA Nouvelles, the Lacordaire REV has been suspended because it would not be possible to follow the originally planned route without expanding the Lacordaire overpass spanning Highway 40, where the REV was expected to pass.<\/p>\n<p>That overpass is under shared jurisdiction between the City of Montreal and the Quebec government. The province oversees the structure, and the configuration falls under the responsibility of the city.<\/p>\n<p>According to media reports, the City of Montreal says they want to move forward with the project but must put it on hold for now to address the challenges related to the route.<\/p>\n<p>CityNews reached out to the City of Montreal for comment but has not heard back.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Image-51-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-479477\"  \/>The REV extension was planned to pass on the Lacordaire Boul. overpass spanning Highway 40.
