\u201cDisgusting graffiti\u201d left on the outer walls and walkway leading to the main entrance of a high school in the city\u2019s west end on Tuesday made for a \u201csad morning in Mississauga,\u201d the mayor said.<\/p>\n
In denouncing the numerous spray-painted anti-Israel hate messages discovered early in the morning at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School, Mayor Carolyn Parrish also noted City of Mississauga staff \u201cpulled out all the stops\u201d to quickly wash away the graffiti so there was \u201cno trace of any of it shortly thereafter.\u201d<\/p>\n
Peel Regional Police told INsauga.com on Tuesday the force\u2019s Hate Crime Unit is investigating the incident. They said they received a call just before 7:30 a.m. reporting the vandalism at the large building on Erin Centre Boulevard that houses the high school in addition to Erin Meadows Community Centre and Library.<\/p>\n
Police said graffiti was spray painted \u201con the side of the building as well as on the ground near the front entrance of the school.\u201d<\/p>\n

One person at the scene described the amount of hate graffiti as \u201csignificant\u201d and \u201cextensive.\u201d<\/p>\n
They added many people entering and leaving the high school\/community centre around the noon hour on Tuesday didn\u2019t appear to be taking much notice of the hate messages.<\/p>\n
A woman at the scene told INsauga.com, \u201cthis is terrible. They shouldn\u2019t be doing this at a school. (There\u2019s) too much hatred in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cleanup crews arrived at the school shortly before noon on Tuesday to begin washing away the spray-painted messages.<\/p>\n
No arrests have yet been made, according to police.<\/p>\n
Mississauga Ward 9 Coun. Martin Reid, who represents the area, said on Wednesday \u201ceveryone worked together\u201d in the wake of the incident \u2014 from the Peel police officers who first responded and investigated to school officials and city staff who worked fast to eradicate the graffiti.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was all hands on deck,\u201d the councillor said during Wednesday morning\u2019s general committee meeting, adding the graffiti \u201cwas down as fast as it was up.\u201d<\/p>\n
