On Saturday, the Indiana Fever will open up their preseason when they visit the New York Liberty.<\/p>\n

The Fever are coming off a season where they made the WNBA playoffs for the second straight year.<\/p>\n

With the season upcoming, it\u2019s worth noting that Fever star Caitlin Clark is on the verge of a major WNBA milestone.<\/p>\n

Clark currently has 983 career points<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She needs just 17 to reach 1,000 for her career.<\/p>\n

Last season, Clark averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 36.7% from the field and 27.9% from three-point range in 13 games.<\/p>\n

Clark was the first pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft after a legendary college career at Iowa.<\/p>\n

She played all four years for the Hawkeyes.<\/p>\n

During her senior season, Clark averaged<\/a> 31.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.7 steals per contest while shooting 45.5% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range in 39 games.<\/p>\n

Clark had a sensational rookie season (in 2024), where she made the All-Star Game and led the Fever back to the WNBA playoffs.<\/p>\n

That year, the 24-year-old averaged 19.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.6 assists and 1.3 steals per contest while shooting 41.7% from the field and 34.4% from three-point range in 40 games.<\/p>\n

After missing most of last season, Clark will be looking to have a big bounce back year in 2026.<\/p>\n

They beat the Atlanta Dream in the first round before losing to the Las Vegas Aces.<\/p>\n
