Mississauga is one step closer to becoming home to the tallest completed skyscraper in Canada outside of Toronto.<\/p>\n

At 258 metres in height (83 storeys), the third highrise in what will eventually be an eight-tower mixed-use development at Burnhamthorpe Road West and Confederation Parkway in the city\u2019s downtown core recently hit a significant milestone, City of Mississauga officials said on Monday.<\/p>\n

City officials offered a nod to the project\u2019s developer for \u201ctopping off\u201d construction on \u201cMississauga\u2019s tallest tower,\u201d known simply as M3.<\/p>\n

M3, the tallest of the eight towers that will comprise the\u00a0 multibillion-dollar condo community known as M City<\/a>, \u201cmarks a milestone in suburban highrise development and sets a new benchmark for vertical living beyond Toronto\u2019s core,\u201d a spokesperson for the engineering firm behind the skyscraper said in an email to INsauga.com.<\/p>\n

Congrats to M City Condos by Rogers Real Estate Development Ltd. and Urban Capital on recently \u201ctopping off\u201d construction on Mississauga\u2019s tallest tower. Building in the sky is complicated \u2013 especially when it\u2019s an 83-storey tower.<\/p>\n

The structure, measuring nearly 850 feet in height and to be the tallest in Canada outside of Toronto, is \u201ca case study in how highrise construction is now possible in non-downtown regional centres,\u201d the spokesperson for RJC Engineers added.<\/p>\n

\u201cMississauga is shifting from a commuter suburb into a dynamic urban centre, driven by rapid zoning changes and housing demand. M3 embodies that evolution. It serves as a real-time example of how structural engineering is enabling this shift, shaping not only skylines but the future of suburban city-building in the GTA.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two award-winning 62-storey condo towers<\/a> dubbed M1 and M2 have already been completed and are occupied as part of the 15-acre development that will be completely finished some years down the road.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

M4, the next in the series to be completed, will rise 67 storeys into the Mississauga sky while M5 is also under construction. The community\u2019s final three structures are expected to then follow suit in the near future.<\/p>\n

Rogers Real Estate Development and Urban Capital are developing the M City community, which was launched in 2017. Construction began two years later.<\/p>\n

Last summer, project leaders said they were using the \u201cmost powerful pump in Canada\u201d<\/a> to deliver concrete high into the sky to get the latest skyscrapers in Mississauga\u2019s downtown core, including M3, built.<\/p>\n
