{"id":622306,"date":"2026-04-23T01:52:20","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T01:52:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/622306\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T01:52:20","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T01:52:20","slug":"killer-of-st-albert-teen-while-on-family-dog-walk-handed-14-year-manslaughter-sentence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/622306\/","title":{"rendered":"Killer of St. Albert teen while on family dog walk handed 14-year manslaughter sentence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>**Warning: Some readers may find the contents of this article disturbing.**<\/p>\n<p>It was an emotional day at the Edmonton courthouse Wednesday for the mother of St. Albert teen Broden Radomske.<\/p>\n<p>A judge handed his killer Keith Landry a 14-year sentence, two years after the man stabbed the 15-year-old boy to death in front of his family while walking his dog on the north edge of Edmonton on May 21, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that it\u2019s a manslaughter charge, and not showing intent, it\u2019s bothersome, but like I said, there is no justice for the loss of a child,\u201d said Broden\u2019s mother Cherie Moran.<\/p>\n<p>Moran wore her son\u2019s hockey jersey to remember and honour him.<\/p>\n<p>Landry pleaded guilty last week to the reduced charge of manslaughter, down from the initial charge of second-degree murder. She says she no longer has custody of her other son, and the dog they were walking that day has now died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery member of my family is not in my life anymore,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a part of my life he was, and the hole that\u2019s left behind after he\u2019s gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the morning at the courthouse \u2013 days before what would have been Broden\u2019s 17th birthday \u2013 15 friends and family members read victim impact statements. You broke so many other people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou singlehandedly ruined my life,\u201d another said. \u201cYou killed my best friend, who was like a brother to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moran said those words from her son\u2019s friends were \u201chard to hear but good to see as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy youngest hasn\u2019t really cried much in all of this, but when his younger friend Noah went up, there was some tears shed there.
