I swear there was one thunder strike very close to North Point Boulevard. It sounded like it could have hit a tree or the cement. It made our house shake quite a bit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Another said that between the lightning and thunder, they were left wide awake.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So much for trying to get to bed early,&#8221; said another Winnipeg resident. &#8220;I jolted awake so many times. The bedroom was lit up the whole time. Crazy!&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>That same system is now hammering northern Manitoba with heavy snowfall, with <a href=\"https:\/\/chvnradio.com\/articles\/northern-manitoba-bracing-for-up-to-50-cm-of-snow-as-spring-storm-triggers-warnings\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">up to 50 centimetres expected in some areas<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The first major storm of 2026 rolled through Winnipeg Wednesday night.
