Tim Tszyu has declared himself ready for an all-Australian assault on Errol Spence Jnr after sensationally splitting with his fight team for the second time in six months \u2013 and partnering up with Hall of Famer Jeff Fench.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Fox Sports Australia on Wednesday night, Fenech also confirmed himself ready to take \u2018The Phoenix\u2019 back to a world title after agreeing to take on the role of both trainer and manager for the 31-year-old superstar.<\/p>\n

The Australian boxing great added that his first move in the new role has been to hire \u201cone of the greatest legal teams in Australia\u201d to deal with Tszyu\u2019s ongoing battle with former manager Glen Jennings.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019m 100 per cent convinced,\u201d Fenech said, \u201cthat Tim Tszyu can be world champion again\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a decision that has sent shockwaves through Australian sport, Tszyu has this week sensationally parted ways with Cuban boxing coach Pedro Diaz, strategic adviser Mike Altamura and manager Darcy Ellis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a text exchange late on Thursday evening, \u2018The Phoenix\u2019 was asked for a comment on his decision to finally align with Australian boxing great Fenech, who has known the nation\u2019s pay-per-view king his whole life.<\/p>\n

In response, Tszyu texted Fox Sports Australia one simple emoji \u2013 the Australian flag.<\/p>\n

Fenech, meanwhile, revealed he and Tszyu had finalised the move over dinner at Sydney\u2019s famed Grappa restaurant on Wednesday evening, with the pair set to start planning for Spence from Friday morning.<\/p>\n

The four-division world champion added Tszyu would also have an elite legal team guiding him through what will likely soon be mediation talks with Jennings, with both men looking to avoid what could reportedly prove a $1 million NSW Supreme Court stoush.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood lawyers for Tszyu and his former manager will meet early next month to broker a settlement over a breach-of-contract dispute.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut just so you know, I\u2019ve got one of the best legal teams in Australia helping with all that,\u201d Fenech said. \u201cBecause Tim only needs one thing on his mind, and that\u2019s to box.<\/p>\n

\u201cForget everything else.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd when the truth in all that comes out \u2026 yeah, won\u2019t be a problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich is now why I\u2019m there.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd why I\u2019ve put that legal team in place. They\u2019re the best of the best.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we\u2019re fine.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m 100 per cent confident that, when it comes time to go into camp for Spence, that won\u2019t be a distraction at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Tim is at the gym, he can just train knowing this legal team will be looking after things. Same as they will then help with the management side of things moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back in September last year, Tszyu created global headlines after revealing he was parting ways with Jennings, plus longtime trainer, and uncle, Igor Goloubev.<\/p>\n

Within weeks, the fighter was then headed Stateside, where he eventually found a new home with Diaz \u2013 the trainer of over 20 world champions and as many Olympic medallists \u2013 in Miami, Florida.<\/p>\n

Yet after consecutive wins against Anthony Velazquez and Denis Nurja that partnership is now over.<\/p>\n

And in its place, two of the greatest surnames in Australian sports history have united. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo Tim has had to do a couple of things that were really hard for him today,\u201d Fenech said Thursday night, when confirming the change. \u201cIt hasn\u2019t been an easy decision for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019m 100 per cent convinced Tim can be world champion again.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously I\u2019m about taking it one step at a time.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd our first job \u2013 beat Spence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen we\u2019ll take things from there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, if Tim had the right people around him he\u2019d still be world champion today.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if somebody knew you stop a f***ing fight when your fighter can\u2019t see \u2026 he would still be world champion right now.<\/p>\n

Fenech revealed Tszyu\u2019s shock decision may even stem back to the two days of training the pair did together late last year, and before the fighter headed Stateside to find a new coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd more recently, I\u2019d heard that Tim might ask me to train him,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I just sat back and waited.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then, yeah, eventually he did reach out to me.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich was still a surprise in a lot of ways. And I didn\u2019t say \u2018yes\u2019 straight away.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe met up a few days later.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe spoke through some things and I told Tim that, while I have a job to do, he\u2019s the boss.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that\u2019s what has happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s employed me to do a job \u2026 and I\u2019m going to ensure Tim is victorious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked about the Spence challenge, Fenech continued: \u201cRight now, I\u2019m not thinking about anything else.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, we\u2019re fighting somebody who over the last decade has been one of the greats.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd while it\u2019s a great challenge, I know Tim Tszyu has the skills for this.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe just needs to be shown some things.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo now it\u2019s up to me to give him those things he hasn\u2019t had before. To give him levels. Give him plans A, B, C and D.<\/p>\n

\u201cTim has always done the same things and I\u2019m excited to now be doing something different with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fenech also confirmed he could potentially take on the roles of both coach and manager.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgain, we\u2019ve got another meeting tomorrow,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I mean, Tim was even employing people to pick his opponents. As a trainer, that\u2019s my job. I can tell him who the right fights are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Certainly Fenech has not held back in his criticism of both Tszyu\u2019s previous trainers.<\/p>\n

As recently as December, the Hall of Famer sensationally revealed he wouldn\u2019t be attending Tszyu\u2019s blockbuster Australian homecoming against Velazquez, describing footage coming out of his training camp in Miami, Florida to Fox Sports Australia as \u201cf***ing worse than anything I\u2019ve seen\u201d.<\/p>\n

Fenech also branded the fighter\u2019s short camp under Diaz \u201cs***\u201d, and likened YouTube footage of pad work sessions as the fighter taking \u201ctwo steps backward\u201d.<\/p>\n

Then earlier this month, French walked out of Tszyu\u2019s win over Nurja in Wollongong after eight rounds.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, the Marrickville Mauler also took aim at Tszyu\u2019s original team over several issues, including when they allowed him to fight on with a severe head cut against Sebastian Fundora \u2013 where he would lose his world title \u2013 and then for their game plan in stoppage losses against Bakhram Murtazaliev and Fundora a second time.<\/p>\n

Fenech labelled Goloubev, Jennings and cutman Mark Gambin a \u201cbunch of clowns\u201d.<\/p>\n
