The Montreal borough of\u00a0C\u00f4te-des-Neiges\u2013Notre-Dame-de-Gr\u00e2ce\u00a0has significantly reduced its planned rollout of parking meters on Sherbrooke Street West following strong feedback from residents and local businesses.<\/p>\n
The revised plan cuts the number of meters nearly in half, limiting installation to about 250 spaces. Officials confirmed that meters will no longer be installed on side streets west of\u00a0D\u00e9carie Blvd.\u00a0or along a key stretch of Sherbrooke between Grand Blvd. and Beaconsfield Ave.<\/p>\n
Acting mayor\u00a0Sonny Moroz\u00a0said the changes reflect a commitment to listening to citizens after a petition and widespread community input.<\/p>\n
The borough says the project still aims to improve parking turnover and support local businesses, while reducing impacts on nearby residential streets. Some revenue from the meters will fund street improvements in partnership with the local business association.<\/p>\n
Installation is expected to begin in mid-May, with meters gradually coming into service in June.
