Connor Zilisch<\/a> was victorious this past weekend during the NASCAR<\/a> Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen. However, the conversation afterwards was centered on the nasty fall he took while getting out of the car to celebrate his win.<\/p>\n

The JR Motorsports wheelman slipped and broke his collarbone in the process, but it certainly could\u2019ve been worse, considering the violent collision of his body with the ground. On the latest episode of The Teardown<\/a>, Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic reacted to the scary scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust so glad that he\u2019s relatively okay,\u201d the NASCAR insider stated<\/a>. \u201cA broken collarbone sucks, and you don\u2019t know how long he\u2019s going to be out. Just watching that whole thing, I mean, I don\u2019t even think like \u2014 maybe people will make jokes about it at some point, but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be funny at all. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s funny now, and I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be funny. It\u2019s not like, \u2018Haha, what an embarrassing moment this guy.\u2019 I don\u2019t think it\u2019s like that. I\u2019m like, \u2018Dude, this was really serious.\u2019 \u2026 It wasn\u2019t funny at all. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe slipped, and then the camera cuts to it, he\u2019s freaking out on the ground. You\u2019re like, \u2018Holy crap. Does he have a brain injury? Is he paralyzed?\u2019 Something like that. Did we just see the possible next big thing in NASCAR get hurt in a blink of an eye like that? He\u2019s just celebrating a win. You\u2019re watching that, and it happens so quickly. \u2026 That was really frightening. I mean, I felt sick over that for a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the same episode, Gluck\u2019s peer in Jordan Bianchi took a more optimistic look at the situation. Believing it could\u2019ve been much worse, Zilisch might look back on the moment and be a bit thankful.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was just like, \u2018Dude, this is awful. I\u2019m glad that a broken collarbone is all it was. I guess. Even though it\u2019s not ideal,\u201d Bianchi added<\/a>. \u201cThat was terrible. \u2026 I guess you could say, \u2018Well, that\u2019s the most embarrassing moment of your life kind of thing,\u2019 because it made the rounds, \u2018NASCAR driver falls.\u2019 <\/p>\n

\u201cIf I was him, the emotion would be like, \u2018Wow, I actually feel kind of lucky and fortunate here, because that could have been a lot worse rather than, Oh, I\u2019m so embarrassed this happened.\u2019 By the way, if that\u2019s the most embarrassing thing that ever happens in his whole life, I think he\u2019ll be all right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alas, Connor Zilisch has his entire career ahead of him, and it\u2019s a promising one, at that. Once he\u2019s healed up, he\u2019ll be back behind the wheel and winning races again.
