And all this before we get to that historic Matchroom headliner on homesoil. <\/p>\n
As part of her push to become Australia\u2019s undisputed boxing queen, 30-year-old Nicolson is now readying to top what will be the first of seven Matchroom Boxing shows held Down Under over the next year.<\/p>\n
Apart from defending her interim WBC strap in Melbourne next Wednesday evening, the popular super bantamweight is also looking to earn a statement win against Mariah Turner \u2013 with her reward then said to be undisputed division champ, Scotney.<\/p>\n
Speaking with Fox Sports Australia this week however, Nicolson expressed fears about that opportunity now taking place, suggesting the Englishwoman will likely vacate her titles as part of a bid to move up and chase a big money fight against Serrano.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Scotney confirmed herself a chance to move up for a fight with the woman ranked behind only Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor in pound-for-pound rankings. <\/p>\n
Ironically, it was only two years ago that Nicolson was herself in the mandatory position for Serrano, then the undisputed featherweight champ.<\/p>\n
However, instead of the Puerto Rican taking that fight, she instead relinquished WBC gold – attributing the decision to grievances around fighting three-minute rounds.<\/p>\n
Asked this week about Scotney now saying she wants Serrano next, and Nicolson didn\u2019t hold back.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh, of course she does,\u201d the Queenslander replied. \u201cEveryone wants the big money fights, wants the legacy fights \u2026 so I understand why she wants to chase Serrano in terms of all that.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I am the mandatory for Ellie Scotney.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd once I take care of business in Melbourne, that mandatory will be called.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it will be ordered.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause I\u2019m her biggest fight in the super bantamweight division.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I also know both her and Serrano, they see me as a banana skin opponent. Both those girls see me as a high risk fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pushed on the thought of Scotney vacating, Nicolson continued: \u201cHearing Ellie talking about Amanda Serrano, it doesn\u2019t give me a lot of hope about our fight being made.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd so that would mean my undisputed chance gone \u2013 again.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhich is frustrating.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was in the mandatory position for Amanda two years ago, but it didn\u2019t happen because she vacated the belt.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd now it feels like this is what is going to happen again with Ellie \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Nicolson then suggested another option was to rematch undefeated American Tiara Brown, who upset her for the WBC featherweight title in March last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo there\u2019s another big fight there,\u201d the Aussie said. \u201cAnd let\u2019s be honest, who is giving two s***s about watching Tiara Brown unless it\u2019s against me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Nicolson also hasn\u2019t given up on her own pursuit of Serrano, who she has previously called out multiple times.<\/p>\n
Only last year, the slick southpaw took aim at the champion\u2019s suggestion she had been disrespectful with her continued call outs.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like she can\u2019t even say my name,\u201d Nicolson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s quite funny. You have to laugh a little bit.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe [says] she\u2019s never been disrespectful or spoken down about an opponent. I\u2019ve never done that. Ever.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I don\u2019t understand why me saying I want to fight her is disrespectful.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe I win. I believe I\u2019m the best. That\u2019s not being disrespectful. I\u2019ve constantly said I think she\u2019s been a trailblazer for women\u2019s boxing. I have so much respect for her.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I do believe I can beat her. And that\u2019s not me being disrespectful, that\u2019s me wanting to prove that I\u2019m the best. <\/p>\n
\u201cI am bored of talking about her, I\u2019ll be honest. I do not think the fight happens. Ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later in the iFL TV interview she continued: \u201cI became her mandatory and [she vacated], said she wants to fight three-minute rounds. Now she\u2019s back fighting two minute rounds. Surely people can see what\u2019s going on here \u2026\u201d <\/p>\n
Nicolson stressed this week, however, that the confusion around what may be next is playing no role in preparations for Wednesday\u2019s headliner, which also features undefeated Aussie KO King Teremoana Jnr in the co-main.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll I can do is keep winning,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAgain, it\u2019s frustrating.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause I want to fight the best. And I want to prove why I believe I\u2019m the best.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut that becomes difficult to even argue when no one is giving me the chance to fight them and beat them.<\/p>\n
\u201cStill, I can\u2019t get caught up talking about Ellie Scotney, or Amanda Serrano because I\u2019ve got a fight in front of me against Mariah Turner.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I know whoever fights me, it\u2019s the best version of themselves that shows up.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s their moment. Their opportunity. So I know the best Mariah is coming to win our fight, just like every girl who fights me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Soon after, she continued: \u201cI am 100 per cent locked in.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I also know my level.<\/p>\n
\u201cKnow what I\u2019m capable of achieving.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I also know how big 2026 can be for me coming off a big performance in Melbourne.
