a close friend of President Donald Trump,<\/a> is \u201cjust another guy,\u201d according to Cindric, despite the major sport\u2019s figure\u2019s immense power and influence. \u201cThe first thing that comes to mind is remembering everyone\u2019s name \u2014 at 27 years old, I haven\u2019t mastered that quality,\u201d Cindric said when asked what he\u2019s learned from Penske.<\/p>\n\u201cI don\u2019t know if I ever will, so I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s something I could take. But if I would I could, because it definitely makes an impact.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut more than that, it\u2019s remembering experiences with people. When he\u2019s one-on-one with you \u2014 whether you\u2019re a driver, custodian, facilities guy, race engineer \u2014 every experience is fairly human and personal. It catches people off guard that he\u2019s not (intimidating). He is a very powerful figure, but he\u2019s just another guy. He\u2019s a racer.<\/p>\n
\u201cStaying true to that for as long as he has \u2014 that personal experience with each person no matter who you are or where you rank \u2014 is critically important if you\u2019re going to be a leader.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cindric has managed just two top-ten finishes in 2026, passing the checkered flag in fifth at Darlington and eighth at Martinsville. However, the No. 2 car currently sits 17th in the Cup Series standings, one shy of the postseason championship \u201cChase.\u201d<\/p>\n
Still, Cindric has stated that now is not the time to panic. Team Penske and the No. 2 have ample time to make appropriate adjustments to make the postseason.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, I find it a bit difficult to speak for (the No. 22 team), but I think more than anything else, it speaks to how easy it is to be off in the Cup Series,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd by off, I don\u2019t mean, you know, having a bad day, but like that it\u2019s the cars themselves, the competitive nature, like, everything\u2019s all really sensitive.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo it\u2019s kind of one of those things that, you know, the smallest piece or part, or not necessarily the car itself. But like a decision, or, you know, a mindset, or just how things fell.<\/p>\n
