Customers in Glenbrook, Killarney, Glengarry, Shaganappi, Richmond, Rutland Park, Glendale, and Glamorgan were impacted.<\/p>\n<p>Power was restored to all but 99 customers around 11:30 a.m. <\/p>\n<p>This comes as a wind warning is issued for the city; gusts in some areas are <a href=\"https:\/\/calgary.citynews.ca\/2026\/04\/24\/calgary-wind-warning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">reaching 90 km\/h.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Enmax confirmed to CityNews the cause of the outage was the wind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHigh winds like the ones we\u2019re experiencing today in Calgary, can bring down branches or trees, which can be dangerous if they come into contact with power lines,\u201d a representative said. <\/p>\n<p>On scene at 3422 Richmond Road SW, CityNews observed a large tree fallen down in an alley that had come in contact with a power line. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Image-72-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3947197\"  \/>Enmax crews on scene at 3422 Richmond Road SW on Friday, April 24, 2026 after high winds caused a power outage in the area. (Henna Saeed, CityNews)<\/p>\n<p>Given Friday\u2019s conditions Enmax is out with a few safety reminders: If you see a power line on the ground or sparking, stay back at least 10 metres and call 911; and if a tree or branch touches a power line, don\u2019t try to remove it \u2014 electricity can travel through anything in contact with the line. <\/p>\n<p>Calgarians can call Enmax at 403-514-6100 to report a tree on a power line.<\/p>\n<p>Reports also indicate some traffic lights aren\u2019t working properly due to the wind and the power outage.<\/p>\n<p>A caller to the 660 NewsRadio traffic centre says the lights are flashing red at Deerfoot Trail and Memorial Drive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a complete mess there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Another issue reported is a trampoline carried from a backyard and landing just off southbound Shaganappi Trail just past Nolan Hill Gate NW. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Image-73-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3947220\"  \/>A trampoline carried away from its backyard and landing at a bus stop near Shaganappi Trail and Nolan Hill Gate NW.
