Title fight tripleheaders are the ultimate rarity in the UFC, and it’s been five years since the most recent one.<\/p>\n
There have been eight events in the promotion’s history that have featured three title fights at the top of the card, and the most recent one was April 24, 2021. And though there’s an explanation for it, that event, UFC 261, was the third in 10 months to feature three title tilts at the top\u00a0\u2013\u00a0in large part thanks to COVID-related delays.<\/p>\n

UFC 261 at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., was the promotion’s return to full arena crowds after the pandemic started to scale back, and the fans got what they were after. All five fights on the main card ended in knockouts or TKOs \u2013\u00a0including Chris Weidman’s ill-fated kick against Uriah Hall that snapped his leg in half.<\/p>\n
The three title fights at the top of the bill were clean finishes when women’s flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko<\/a> knocked out Jessica Andrade; Rose Namajunas<\/a> won back the women’s strawweight title with a head-kick KO of champ Zhang Weili<\/a>; and welterweight titleholder Kamaru Usman<\/a> settled his beef with Jorge Masvidal with a second-round KO.<\/p>\n Take a look back at the event below.<\/p>\n
