That&#8217;s a total of 567 cases \u2014 nearly 63 per cent higher than the total case count for all of 2025.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There have been 80 confirmed cases and five probable cases so far in April, the new figures say.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Manitoba has the highest number of measles cases of any Canadian province, accounting for over 60 per cent of all cases in the country, <a href=\"https:\/\/health-infobase.canada.ca\/measles-rubella\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">federal data shows<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This week, health officials sent out several bulletins warning that members of the public may have been exposed to measles at locations in southern Manitoba, including the Children&#8217;s Hospital emergency department, a school and transit bus routes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who was at the Portage District General Hospital emergency department in Portage la Prairie at the following times is encouraged to monitor for symptoms:<\/p>\n<p>April 17 from 1:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.April 18 from 1:10 a.m. to 3:25 a.m.April 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The province warned Winnipeggers may have been exposed to the highly contagious disease at the following locations and times:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Winnipeg Transit Route D16 (Academy-Notre Dame) on April 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.Winnipeg Transit Route F7 (St. Anne\u2019s-Provencher) on April 16 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.Victor Wyatt School on April 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.Teen Stop Jeunesse on April 16 from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>People who were at the Health Sciences Centre Children\u2019s Hospital emergency department in Winnipeg on April 15 from 11 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. and April 18 from 11:05 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. are asked to monitor for symptoms, the province said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Recent exposure sites are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.mb.ca\/health\/publichealth\/diseases\/measles-exposures.html#exposures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">updated on the province&#8217;s website.<\/a>   <\/p>\n<p>There is no cure for measles and treatment focuses on symptom relief.<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms typically appear seven to 21 days after exposure. They can include a cough and fever, a runny nose and conjunctivitis (pink eye).<\/p>\n<p>People who contract measles may get white spots on the inside of their mouth and a red rash, which can be painful.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>People with measles are infectious from four days before the rash appears to four days after it appears.<\/p>\n<p>The illness spreads through droplets that form in the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.
