\nThe 2026 Hospice Heroes award winners are here! Hospice Heroes is an annual award ceremony where ARCH recognizes staff, volunteers, and partners who make an outstanding contribution to our community. Hospice Heroes are exceptional people who embody the values of ARCH and are community leaders who inspire positive change. For the 12th annual Hospice Heroes, ARCH staff, volunteers, and partners were happy to come together and celebrate at Grand Gardens. It was a beautiful night honouring the wonderful people who make Hospice so special. We are very grateful to our Hospice Heroes for their exemplary efforts. They are true role models!<\/p>\n
Volunteer Hospice Hero \u2013 Greg Chamings<\/p>\n
Greg Chamings has been a devoted palliative volunteer at ARCH for three years, and in that time, his joyful spirit and brilliant smile have become a familiar and cherished presence throughout our Hospice Home. Whether he is delivering meals, tending to laundry, or simply sitting with a resident and offering his time and companionship, Greg gives his all to everything he does. What sets Greg apart is his genuine desire to truly know the people he serves. He takes a heartfelt interest in residents and their families, building connections that go far beyond the duties of a volunteer. Greg spends his time being present, sitting with residents, walking with them, and sharing stories and simple moments of joy. Whether listening or reading a favourite Dr Seuss story, he brings warmth, laughter, and a sense of belonging to those who need it most. In recognition of his incredible dedication and the lasting impact he has made on our residents and families, Greg is proudly honoured as the 2026 Volunteer Hospice Hero. He continues to inspire all of us at ARCH, and we are deeply grateful for the light he brings to our community.<\/p>\n
Staff Hospice Hero \u2013 Barb Bailey<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is not how much you do, but how much love you put into doing it.\u201d These words from Mother Teresa perfectly capture the spirit of Barb Bailey, a dedicated personal support worker who has been with ARCH since the very beginning. From day one, Barb has truly embodied what it means to serve. Barb’s commitment to residents and their families goes far beyond the expectations of her role. Whether she is providing personal care, stepping into the kitchen to lend a hand when needed, or simply being a steady and reassuring presence, Barb does it all without complaint and always with a smile. Her willingness to go above and beyond speaks volumes about her dedication and her resolve to always put residents first. She consistently brings kindness, empathy, and compassion into every interaction, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those around her. As we continue to uphold ARCH\u2019s mission, vision, and values of providing dignified care, Barb stands as a true testament to compassionate service.
