A problematic property in South Surrey is causing concern for many of its neighbours. <\/p>\n
Located near 32 Avenue and 196 Street, the vacant property has reportedly, turned into an illegal dumping ground of sorts and has also, been the site of multiple fires. <\/p>\n
At a press conference Thursday (April 23), Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke was asked about the site.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did check into that. We have had several calls from neighbours in that area. It is a major concern. I do believe it\u2019s five calls that have been addressed by our bylaw department,\u201d Locke said at the presser.<\/p>\n
She said the city is aware and working to address the issue.<\/p>\n
\u201dIt\u2019s something we\u2019re addressing all the time with that vacant property. I spoke with our general manager of public safety to make sure they get out there and address what\u2019s going on in that community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The most recent complaint about the property was on Wednesday (April 22), about a recent fire and dumped materials, the city confirmed in an email.<\/p>\n
