{"id":628730,"date":"2026-04-25T23:52:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T23:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/628730\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T23:52:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T23:52:15","slug":"over-20-peace-groups-gather-for-end-global-war-march-in-winnipeg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/628730\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 20 peace groups gather for &#8216;End Global War&#8217; march in Winnipeg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over 20 Winnipeg peace groups rallied against global wars and called on governments to cut military spendings.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of Winnipeggers gathered with posters and flags at the steps of the Manitoba Legislative Building.<\/p>\n<p>Their main message: global peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very concerned about an increase in military spending, the increase to meet the NATO targets,\u201d said Candice Bodnaruk, executive director, Peace Alliance Winnipeg. \u201cThe cuts that we\u2019ve seen on a federal level to social programs in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tyler Gingrich, one of the rally attendees said, \u201cWe need to lift up the rights of people everywhere. There is a sense of solidarity and hope in that, especially given that it\u2019s not the nicest day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speakers also highlighted the harmful impact of armed conflicts and military industry on the environment<\/p>\n<p>Bryan Hammond said, \u201cAt a time when we are supposed to be making living more in harmony with the environment. We are doing the exact opposite. Just stomp on the gas over the cliff.
