Former Okotoks Oilers forward Rieger Lorenz has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild after capping his senior season with a national championship at the University of Denver<\/p>\n
Since signing with the Minnesota, Lorenz has already played in three games with the team’s AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild, making his debut on Wednesday, April 15.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Prior to playing in Denver and now Iowa, Lorenz spent part of his development as an Oiler. He first debuted during the 2018-2019 season before joining the team full time in\u00a02020-2021. He went on to dominate as an Oiler in 2021-2022, capturing 85 points on the season, the third highest in franchise history. He went on to play for the University of Denver in the 2022-2023 season where he has remained until now.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Coming in at six-foot-three and 211 pounds, the 22-year-old winger has the chance to become a full-time NHL player alongside several former Oilers, including Jacob Bernard-Docker, Dylan Holloway and Corban Knight.<\/p>\n
