Place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cAnd it means a lot to us to have their support week in and week out. And they were huge for us tonight. It wasn\u2019t an easy game by any means, and having them push us through those tough moments in the game really got us to the end with the win, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/indicator-big.gif\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The result marked Vancouver\u2019s fourth straight victory and capped a five-game homestand where the Whitecaps went 4-1-0.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of people marched to the stadium behind a giant banner reading \u201cSave the Caps.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Once inside, more than 2,000 fans held signs with the same \u201cSave the Caps\u201d message as players walked out onto the field. <\/p>\n<p>The paper signs were placed by Vancouver\u2019s supporters groups before the game. <\/p>\n<p>Others brought their own visual messages of support, including a giant banner reading \u201cWe will fight for our club and we will win\u201d next to an image of a fist. <\/p>\n<p>Chants of \u201cSave the Caps!\u201d also rang out through the stadium after Ema Lake sang the American and Canadian national anthems. <\/p>\n<p>Hearing and seeing the support was \u201cemotional,\u201d said Whitecaps head coach Jesper Sorensen. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a declaration,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s love from the fans to the team and to the players and to all of us. And it\u2019s a strong message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The message comes amid persistent rumours that the team will soon be moved to an American market. <\/p>\n<p>The current ownership group \u2014 including Greg Kerfoot, Steve Luczo, Jeff Mallett and former NBA star Steve Nash \u2014 announced the Whitecaps were up for sale in December 2024. <\/p>\n<p>Chief executive officer Axel Schuster has repeatedly said the priority is to find a new owner who will keep the \u2018Caps in Vancouver, though speculation around relocation continues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve known for a little while now that the team is up for sale. But our job at the end of the day is to get results on the pitch,\u201d said defender Tristan Blackmon. \u201cWe don\u2019t have that much of an influence on what goes on big picture in terms of where the team goes, if it stays. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll we can do as players is put on good performances like we did tonight. \u2026 The most we can do as players is try to represent the community and everybody who comes out here really well. So we\u2019re going to keep on trying to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Vancouver\u2019s star midfielder Thomas M\u00fcller called on fans to show their support by coming out to home games. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I have a wish, I don\u2019t know how we can get it done, but it would be nice if the lower bowl is in every home game full full, not only almost full,\u201d the German soccer legend said. \u201cI want to have the feeling that it\u2019s packed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fans were \u201cincredible\u201d on Saturday, Blackmon said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve been so good to us, especially this year,\u201d he said. \u201cOf course, at the end of last year, we saw everybody showing up and showing out for us when we were making the playoff push. And, like I said, this year, so far, it\u2019s been incredible the support we\u2019ve got from the community, and we definitely felt that, especially today \u2026.
