Jannik Sinner<\/a> continues to play like the man to beat on his favorite surface.<\/p>\n

On Monday night in Cincinnati the top-seeded Italian battled past Canadian Gabriel Diallo 6-2 7-6(6) to reach the round of 16 and stretch his career best hard court winning streak to 23 victories.<\/p>\n

Sinner, who will face either Tommy Paul or Adrian Mannarino next, now holds the ninth-longest hard court winning streak on the ATP Tour this century. His last loss on a hard court came to Carlos Alcaraz in last year\u2019s Beijing final.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old Italian has compiled a 62-3 record on hard courts since the start of 24, and he has won 21 consecutive hard court matches at the majors, winning titles at the Aussie Open in 2024 and 2025, and the US Open in 2024.<\/p>\n

Sinner was pushed by 23-year-old Diallo at times on Monday, but the Canadian was unable to avoid hurting himself with double-faults and some ill-timed errors.<\/p>\n

He hit ten double-faults in total, but still managed to find a way to set point in the second set. That\u2019s when Sinner hit one of the shots of the evening, a wicked first-serve return that made a beeline for Diallo\u2019s shoelaces.
